Sen. Leila Delima May Lose Her Senate Position Because of the Ethics Complaint Filed Against Her

Senator Leila Delima who is now abroad to attend several official engagement, will be facing an Ethics Complaint for advising Ronnie Dayan, her former driver-bodyguard and ex boyfriend not to attend the senate house inquiry.

According to House Justice Committee Chairman and Oriental Mindoro 2nd District Representative Reynaldo Umali, grave misconduct is a serious offense and can be a ground for her possible discharge in the position.

"When she advised or induced Dayan to hide and not to attend the senate house inquiry we felt that she violated the.. not only the rules but also the law", Umali said.

Tito Sotto, Chairman of senate ethics committee, said that they accepted the complaint because the jurisdiction is clear.

"I look at the complaint, determined the foreign substance, then give the members a copy, and then after I have fully reviewed the complaint then I will give my members a copy of my recommendations",

They will schedule a hearing so Sen. Leila delima can be able to present her side.

When asked when will be the hearing, Sotto said that it wouldn't be possible before Christmas, and added, "siguro after new year na".
